Kesko · Multi-brand systems

Seven years building Nordic retail from the ground up

Senior Product Designer · 2019–2026 · Retail / Nordics

From a single-brand eCommerce site and design system for K-Rauta to a multi-brand architecture as K-Bygg and Byggmakker joined — tokens, language, and country-specific commerce.

Kesko is one of Europe’s major retailers. For roughly seven years — through Speednet — I designed and evolved digital experience for K-Rauta, then the footprint grew as K-Bygg and Byggmakker joined the group. This case is that systems and commerce arc.

Since 2026 my day-to-day seat is Byggmakker B2B. I no longer work on K-Rauta and K-Bygg product except shared features. Current Byggmakker work — MyPages, project tools, and the AI-first delivery model — lives in aseparate case study.

Context

What began as a ground-up website and design system for K-Rauta became a multi-brand architecture. K-Rauta Sweden later rebranded into K-Bygg. Byggmakker joined. Same family of components — new brands, markets, and commercial rules.

One system, three brands, three markets — then focus moves to Byggmakker B2B.
